Camino Frances, characters and methods.

There seem to be several distinct characters walking the Camino. For those just joining this blog, we (Sue and I) are walking the Camino Frances this April, May and June 2017. St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago, 452 miles. 128 miles completed as at 7th May. All going well, with no blisters or injuries.
Ok, the characters……. many thought it was a good idea last week, and just booked a flight, others have been planning/training for months. Each morning separates them. Lots leave very early, 5-6 am, to walk until lunchtime, and then be ready for the Hostels to open between 1:30 pm and 2:30 ish, to make sure they have a bed. Others leave later, hoping all will be OK ( this year it seems it might not be, with whole towns full up). Others leave later still, so arrive late afternoon.

We also learnt today that the numbers arriving in Santiago having completed one of the many Camino’s ( of which the Camino Frances accounts for around 80% of the total) that start all over Europe is over 1000 per day!

We met two lovely ladies from Yorkshire last week, adding another 10 days to their total walk, hoping to complete the full length of the Camino by 2019.

Getting into lots of conversations with fellow walkers, mostly at the end of the day, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Belgium, and the U.K are all represented.

What is quite stunning, are the awesome views.
